Cornelia Hediger

Cornelia Hediger, Swiss photographer was awarded a PDN’s 30: Emerging Photographers to Watch in 2009. Some of her work does remind me of Fransesca Woodman. The Doppelgänger project resulted in two series.

The Doppelgänger project resulted in two series of self portraits. Fragmented and reconstructed in a grid. Old fashioned clothes and rooms hiding a more darker, intense meaning at first glance.
"Doppelgänger".It’s a German word, that means double-walker. It’s a ghostly image of a person who is also an omen of bad luck and death. If you see yourself as a doppelgänger, you know it’s bad news!” ; Cornelia Hediger.
She explores, different often contrasting sides of herself. Seemingly in a conversation or conflicting situation with her "Doppelgänger. Cornelia Hediger spends quite some time on creating her Doppelgänger images. The whole process starts with a drawing, while a photo shoot can take up to eight hour, there are still loads of the darkroom and computer work left.
