Liu Yuanshou

One of China's most famous contemporary painters, and member of the 'Artists Association of Beijing', Liu Yuanshou was born in Beijing, China. Awarded at many prestigious exhibitions in Asia. Realist painter, mostly painting young women, draped in scarlet red silk. He now lives in the Jiangsu region, as do his young female models. These young women are seductive, but seem to be desperate and struggling with their inner selves.

Evelyn Bencicova

Evelyn Bencicova is a photographer and art director from Bratislava, Slovakia. Clean and stylized work, bathing mostly in a greenish light. Now a days based in Berlin, she is composing her images as live human sculpture lingering in desolated clinical buildings. Frozen in time, silent images from what looks like a choreographic interaction between human bodies.
Evelyn Bencicova is a self-taught photographer and former model.

Hermann Fösterling

Hermann Fösterling, German photographer, painter and printmaker. I am impressed by his heliogravures (photogravure), it is a difficult art to master. These images are all from the series 'Torsi". All printed from a copper plate on handmade paper.
Photogravure is a photomechanical process, using a light-sensitive gelatin tissue, film positive, copper plate and etching fluids of different strength. Check over here if you like to learn more about this technique.

Karen Divine

Karen Divine; "These images are a suggestion of the subtlety of influences around us and the apparent connection and interaction we have with all things.  It’s photography that represents my personal experience of the world, becoming stories of multiple and personal dimensions, reflecting my emotional life, my inner turmoil, my passions and my sense of freedom in the world."

This series of nudes was taken and manipulated with an iPhone. Karen asked the question; do women shoot the female nude with a different approach than the male photographer? You can find out what she discovered on her website, leaves the question what do you think?
Karen Divine loves the experiment, and when the digital age came along she stepped right in.
Born in the US, she studied painting, drawing and photography.

José De Almeida and Maria Flores

Both of Portuguese origin, José De Almeida and Maria Flores got together in 'Four Hands Photo'. There is little left to be found on the net, and their website www.ourhandsphoto.com doesn't  seem to work anymore. Most of the work shows self staged stories, their vision of the world. Performing as characters in this imaginary world. Maria Flores is still working in the same style.

At work!

See the painted version by Maria Flores here.

Maria Flores

Maria Flores was born in Lisbon, Portugal 1979. As an artist, she combines different languages of plastic arts. Creating objects, costumes and staging imaginary scenes, result in pictures that eventually will be digitally edited. Now she includes paintings and drawings into her images.
Maria Flores; 'In my paintings I am able to express my feelings of sadness and the naive feeling of childhood as if in another universe. By contrast in the photos there is a more ironic and metaphoric background. Stories that are only possible in our imagination and that I am able bring them to live, this way I live through them by dressing up and being in their skin."
Came across Maria Flores' work sometime ago, she had a project gong on with José De Almeida, called 'Four Hands Photo'. But there is little left to be found on the internet about Four Hands Photo.

Some of the work returns, see here.
